Airspace

Airspace charts should be read to familiarise yourself with the airspace and restricted areas around the Blue mountains and surrounding areas. Airspace maps can be accessed online for free in pdf format from sirservices website.


The relevant airspace charts for out flying sites are:
  • Sydney VNC
  • Newcastle VNC
  • Sydney VTC.
This is a cut and paste of the two VNC charts from Nov 2019. Blackheath is shown as a Hang gliding site. Please download the current charts to familiarise yourself with the area.


NOTAMS

A NOTAM gives important safety information for pilots planning a flight. They provide information for temporaty restrictions, weather observations and other potential hazards not normally encountered in an area.

Notams can be checked using the location breifing service or the area brefing service from the Airservices australia website. A free registration is required.
NOTAM locatons to check relevant to BMHGC areas of operation are (updated Jan 2020):

  • R522 MARRANGAROO (R522)
